Dale Christian began his journey in the field of Structural Engineering while still in high school. He was chosen from a field of candidates in his school’s newly formed “Work Experience Apprentice Program” in 1965 to work for a major Structural Engineering firm in Riverside, CA. He continuously (except for a 4 year stint in the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam Era) worked for that firm until forming his own company in 1980. A graduate from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, he is a licensed California Civil and Structural Engineer (C27773 and S2705) dating back to 1977 and 1984 respectively.
He holds licenses in several other states as well. Throughout the history of the firm Mr. Christian has personally designed and overseen every conceivable type of structure imaginable, each with his unique vision and approach. Reinforced by the highest caliber of experienced Structural Engineers, Professional Engineers, Draftspersons and Support Staff, he eagerly anticipates the challenges in the future of the Structural Engineering Discipline including continual growth of the D.C.S.E. firm.
Richard Suzuki, our Director Engineering has over 24 years of design experience in structural engineering and has been with Dale Christian Structural Engineer Inc. for over 20 years. Richard heads the commercial structures division of the office since the mid 1990’s. Prior to joining Dale’s team, he had engineered numerous residential structures from single family homes to multi-family podium structures as well as commercial structures.
He completed his engineering studies from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with an emphasis in structures and from the Irvine Institute of Technology with a Masters degree in Structural Engineering. Richard holds California Registrations as a Civil and as a Structural Engineer and is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California and American Society of Civil Engineers.
Roberto Ortiz, a 12 year veteran of Dale Christian Structural Engineer, Inc., has over 15 years of experience in structural design. Currently our Director of Operations, Roberto has taken an active role in implementing new directives for growth for our firm. He is a licensed (California) Civil and Structural Engineer with vast experience in the multi-family housing design and single family dwellings as well as Student Housing. His multi-disciplined background enables him to readily assess business and client needs in even the most challenging markets. His innovative approach and leadership will guarantee that Dale Christian/Structural Engineer, Inc. is now, and will always be at the cutting edge of Structural Engineering and Design.
With Roberto’s leadership, the office will remain the go-to firm for innovative design solutions, on time, and with a goal of building and maintaining superior business relationships. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Fullerton in 2000.
Todd Brown is a Senior Vice President at D.C.S.E. and has been with our firm since 1997 with almost 17 years of structural design experience. Todd’s dedication to producing quality design and client relations embodies what this firm is about. His leadership, knowledge and attention to detail have set the bar high for not only our up-and-coming engineers within our firm but also our competitors. His expertise is in single family and multi-family housing with emphasis on cost effective solutions.
Todd is an active member of SEAOC and is currently involved in a seismology committee task to study the differences between the IBC and the IRC for seismic design. He graduated in 1996 from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering and is a licensed Civil and Structural Engineer in the State of California.
Winnie Cudd has been with D.C.S.E. since January 2005 and today serves as the firm’s Vice President of Business Development. She oversees the day-to-day business operations, contract administration, maintaining and developing client relations and serves as a key member of the executive team that sets the company’s strategic direction. Winnie earned her Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton in 2006.
